HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM

 

TRAFFIC AWARENESS PROGRAM (TAP)
for High Schools

NOTE: The High School Program is NOT currently sponsored.
As a result, a School would have to bear the cost if the Awareness Program was required.


Under the umbrella of the Traffic Offenders Program (TOP) a separate suite of presentations was developed for Year 10 and Year 11 High School students, the Traffic Awareness Program (TAP), which was evaluated and endorsed by the
Department of School Education in 1996.

The content for these presentations is drawn from the experience the presenters have in their specialised field of employment. The presenters who participate in the Program represent the following organisations:

The aim is to present an overview of the Ambulance Service of NSW and where it fits into
society in order to reduce the chance that you may need to call us.

DRUG AND ALCOHOL AWARENESS

Alcohol and Other Drugs

There is a proven link between drug and alcohol use and motor vehicle collisions and traffic offences.

This section of the Program aims to:

Provide information on drug and alcohol use and its relation to traffic collisions and offences.
Explore with participants the risk associated with drug use and the use of a motor vehicle.
Introduce participants to some practical skills which will assist them in reducing
the harm associated with drug and alcohol use when using a motor vehicle.
Give information on Alcohol and other Drug Services available in the area.
